Scientific Investigation in P4/5: Which chocolate melts the fastest?
This week in Primary 4 and 5, the pupils set out to investigate whether white, milk or dark chocolate melted the fastest under heat as part of their topical learning on Food. The pupils gathered the equipment they needed to complete the experiment including different types of chocolate, tin trays, a weighing scales, boiling water, a recording sheet and timer. As a class they discussed the importance of a fair test to enable fair results for each group. This included the same amount of boiling water at the same temperature, the same weight of chocolate and starting the experiment at the same time. The pupils timed how long it took for the first chocolate to melt and recorded their results. This was a very fun experiement enabling lots of discussion throughout.
